ADVault to Outline 21st Century ACP at HIMSS22

(DALLAS, TX) – March 8, 2022 –ADVault, the nation’s leader in digital advance care planning, will be front and center at three important sessions as part of the upcoming HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition (HIMSS22) March 14-18 in Orlando. The conference will provide a unique opportunity for professionals from throughout the global health ecosystem to connect in person and digitally for the education, innovation, and collaboration they need to reimagine health and wellness for everyone, everywhere.

Among the highlights of ADVault’s participation at HIMSS22 will be a presentation entitled “Advance Care Planning Hits the 21st Century With FHIR.” Held at 11:30 a.m. (ET) on March 16, the continuing education course will present a detailed overview of the standards work currently underway that enable a person's advance medical preferences for treatment to be accessible across healthcare settings. Conducting the session will be ADVault’s Senior Vice President of Innovation and External Affairs Maria Moen along with MITRE Corporation Quality Chief Engineer Jessica Skopac, PhD, JD, MA.

“When urgent treatment decisions are being made, immediate access to advance directive and advance care plan information is an essential component to providing personalized care,” said Moen. “Unfortunately however, ACP remains largely paper-based, which leads to numerous barriers, burdens, and adverse outcomes as well as erosion of trust in the healthcare system. Attendees will learn how technology has made possible seamless accessibility to AD/ACP information and how the Post-Acute Care Interoperability Community is creating the FHIR standards for interoperable data exchange, integration, sharing, and retrieval of this critically important information.” You can learn more about the session in http://www.healthcareitnews/

Moen will bring to her presentation more than 25 years in long-term post-acute care leadership roles, during which she has served on numerous boards and industry workgroups including being CMS Innovation Grant Leader and lead for the HL7 PACIO Advance Directive Interoperability in FHIR Project. Moen is the current chair of the HIMSS LTPAC Committee and last year was honored as an Interoperability Hero by DirectTrust, a non-profit healthcare industry alliance that recognizes those organizations, teams, and individuals integral to advancing interoperability.

ADVault will also be a co-sponsor and panelist in the Interoperability Showcase “Finding the Patient’s Voice” presentation being held on March 16 at HIMSS22. Attendees will discover new ways to utilize and scale technology to solve healthcare’s biggest interoperability challenges while examining how key interoperability initiatives are impacting healthcare delivery at the community, regional, national, and international levels.

A vignette-style demonstration involving ADVault entitled “Advance Directives: The Patient’s Voice” will also be showcased at Booth #8240-89 at various times throughout the days of March 15, 16, and 17. There interoperability technology co-sponsors will explore and expose the different touchpoints a patient may potentially encounter as they navigate through the healthcare ecosystem and how that has brought to the forefront the need for seamless accessibility to digital advance healthcare decisions documents. Nowhere is this more important than the digitalization of advance directives and advance care planning which touch every point in the healthcare continuum.

The HIMSS Global Health Conference & Exhibition provides the opportunity to attend in-person and digital, in-person only, digital only, or exhibition only. Further information and registration is available at https://www.himss.org/global-conference/registration-info-pricing
